The continuing effects of the writers and actors strikes had a great knock on through the industry. Bookings for crew and casting, dropped dramatically. Rippling down through to extras, which casting for vanished. Rippling far beyond the sets and studios globally as if affected the entertainment industry.

The beginning of 2025 saw a slow start to as productions got underway. We entered February, I began to wonder if I'd would ever get to work back on set. Moving through Feb, I did see some requests for availability, which I snapped up as hungry to get back as I was! Yet in the days and weeks later nothing came off them, as I got released. Casting a shadow of my aspersions, and doubt in how I could move forward. March arrived and still I hadn't been on any location or set!

These are the realities of the strikes. The Film industry writers and actors alike needed to have some protection against, what AI could have taken from the human work force and creativity. Imaging working as a villager for one day, only to have your face digitalized and reused in perpetuity across films without another pay check. People are an integral part of the film industry, and needed to be given safeguards against been exploited.

The strikes showed me how shaky this path is. I lost months of opportunities and work, momentum, and bit of hope, but I still here. The new year I looked to push my acting skills, as reciting monologues in the mirror, or recording self tapes for auditions I wasn't getting feedback and felt as though I was shouting into the void.

Taking a course with The Actors Lounge to deepen my craft and skills as an actor, and build a road towards goal, as Principal actor. The strikes tested me, I'm not just background noise anymore; I'm fighting for my shot, one scene at a time. I'll get those lines, I'll get those roles, lets keep those cameras rolling!
